Myths About Spay/Neuter:

1. My pet will get fat.

Pets more often gain weight because of overfeeding and lack of exercise.

2. I can't spay/neuter my pet because he is a purebred.

One out of four animals sitting in shelters are purebred. There are not enough homes for both purebreds and mixed breeds.

3. I want my children to experience the miracle of birth.

Sadly, euthanization of unwanted pets at shelters overshadows the miracle. Your children will learn much more if you teach them how precious life is by spaying/neutering your family pet.

4. My dog won't hunt if he is neutered.

In truth, an un-neutered dog can be distracted from the hunt. Neutering does not have any effect on a dog's personality, instinct,

Did you know that research has shown that the majority of dog bites are by
un-neutered males?

Why Spay & Neuter?
The reasons make sense.

The Madison-Greene Humane Society Spay/Neuter Clinic is committed to ending companion animal overpopulation by providing low cost, quality spay and neuter services.   We also offer low-cost vaccinations only at the time of surgery.

See the Spay & Neuter page for costs and information about our Spay/Neuter Clinic.

We offer $10 vaccinations for your pet when we spay or neuter them. We regret that we are unable to provide vaccinations other than at that time. We do offer a low cost Rabies Clinic in Stanardsville at least once a year, sometimes twice, Spring and Fall. Stay tuned!
