Myths About Spay/Neuter:

1. My pet will get fat.

Pets more often gain weight because of overfeeding and lack of exercise.

2. I can't spay/neuter my pet because he is a purebred.

One out of four animals sitting in shelters are purebred. There are not enough homes for both purebreds and mixed breeds.

3. I want my children to experience the miracle of birth.

Sadly, euthanization of unwanted pets at shelters overshadows the miracle. Your children will learn much more if you teach them how precious life is by spaying/neutering your family pet.

4. My dog won't hunt if he is neutered.

In truth, an un-neutered dog can be distracted from the hunt. Neutering does not have any effect on a dog's personality or instincts, and won't slow them down. A dog's personality is formed by environment and genetics more than sex hormones.

5. It is too expensive to spay or neuter my pet.

We provide a low cost spay and neuter service that makes the surgery more affordable. Spaying or neutering your pet will make them better behaved, happier, and healthier, and will save you money in the long run. There is lots of financial assistance out there to help with the costs of spaying and neutering.

6. It is not important to neuter males, since they don't get pregnant.

We've never heard of immacualte conception in dogs and cats, so this simply isn't true. As the saying goes, it takes two to tango!

Did you know that research has shown that the majority of dog bites are by un-neutered males?
